|Living spaces are lacking in Hong Kong, let alone parking space. Although there are already lots of shopping malls that provide indoor parking, the demand has become larger than supply. Therefore, drivers usually find themselve parking outdoor. During summer time, outdoor temperature can go up to 40°C, it can get even hotter in a car parked outdoor for hours. It is very common to see drivers let their cars cool down after starting their engines and switching on the air-conditioning.
The HKDI Product design graduate Yeung Siu Chung spotted the drivers’ problem and designed Kola Kola as a solution. Kola Kola cools down the car temperature remotely with a 360° wind outlet, it can be turned on by mobile app, and run on an individual battery that does not require the starting of the car engine.
With the assistance of the Hong Kong Electrical Appliance Industries Association (HKF&DA), Mr. PL Ho from Product Innovation Committee felt positive about Yeung Siu Chung’s design and supported its production. The「DesignXcel」team has been encouraging collaboration and advanced technology through the exhibition platform to showcase their collaborative efforts.
